The share of ball-in-play time each team had the ball. We estimate who holds the ball from the event stream: possession switches to the other team on an attacking event by them (a carry, kick, or set-piece win), and is unchanged by their defensive events (tackles, penalties conceded). That possession time is then measured against the total time the ball was in play, so the two teams’ shares add up to 100%. Shown on the session’s Ball in Play stats.
