# Positive Carry

When the ball carrier wins the collision with the tackler, pushes the defender back, and falls forward, starting a ruck.

Also called a Dominant Carry. Positive carries are more common than negative carries.

## How it's identified

* The carrier wins the collision: drives the defender back and/or falls forward under control.
* A carrier who falls forward then lands on his back or side is still a positive carry. Direction of fall after gaining territory does not change the outcome.
* A carrier who fell to the side is still positive if he made progress or did not lose territory at the start of contact.
